Welcome Back!

Have I really not updated since October???

Then the saying “time flies when you’re having fun” is really true. It is great to be back at work being creative, meeting new people and seeing all that is new in the industry. This past fall brought a chance to go to “BDNY” ( Boutique Design New York)  at the Javits Center; geared toward the Hospitality industry.

It was a very full day of walking and talking; meeting lots of vendors and their innovative products.

Lladro, known for their pale pink and blue ceramic sculpture now offers an exquisite line of chandeliers and accessories

Some more innovative products..

This was my favorite piece- a table with a custom glass insert made to look like spilled water

How about a sofa that changes color??

In October, Hubby had to go to London so I tagged along again. I finally got to a bunch of museums and saw some very famous paintings..

Even some unfinished ones by Michelangelo

The highlight of my trip was the International Ballroom Dancing Championships at The Royal Albert Hall. Thank you, Melinda for an amazing night!!

And, again this year Hubby and I managed to pull off another joyous Christmas party. The theme this year was Winter Wonderland. I made centerpieces with lanterns for the tables and we covered the room in white and blue lights.

We had our singers again this year who entertained us and led  our finale of The Twelve Days of Christmas.

In the fall, I  had the pleasure of working with a very sweet new client who had just moved back to New York from New Mexico. She was used to living with a lot of the bright colors which are typical of the south west. She had a lot of beautiful art work and pottery that she collected over the years and wanted to brighten up her place to reflect her style that she so dearly missed. She allowed me to go crazy with paint colors on her walls and brought in some brightly colored fabrics.

Her rooms went from this-

to this!

It’s really amazing what a coat of paint can do. I wish all clients were this brave!

Last, but not least is the most exciting news that I have to share;

I have been chosen to participate in this year’s Mansion In May Designer Showhouse which will be held at Alnwick Hall, “The Abbey” located in Morristown, New Jersey.

Out of several hundred applicants, my design was one of forty six chosen. The space I chose is on the first floor called “The Ante Room”. Right now, it is not very pretty…

My plans are to make an Art Deco inspired lounge for the imaginary visitors to the Mansion in it’s heyday. I have already started work in the room and will share what I can in the weeks to come.

It is an honor to be a part of such a wonderful group of volunteers who work together with the Women’s Association for Morristown Medical Center. The home will be open to the public the entire month of May . Please try to attend!
